The air conditioner would not turn off.

If your air conditioner runs for longer than it should, you will have a clogged filter. Check to see if cleaning or replacing your filter solves the issue. If your machine is old or undersized, it can work too hard, loop too often, and have trouble shutting down. Other issues that can trigger your air conditioner to run continuously include:
- A faulty fan relay
- The thermostat cable has a short.
- A thermostat that has failed
The central air conditioner would not turn on.
If your central air system isn’t working, it might be as easy as adjusting the thermostat. If that does not solve the problem, contact a technician because your HVAC device can need to be fixed or replaced.

Within Air Conditioner Fan Isn’t Working

If it’s not running, it’s possible that it’s causing your coil to freeze. Since your technician may need to repair the contacts inside the fan relay, the fan belt, or even the motor itself, a frozen coil necessitates a service call.
Outside, the air conditioner fan is not working.
If your air conditioner isn’t cooling properly, you can inspect your outdoor device. Check the breaker or fuse box first if the outdoor fan is not spinning. If a reset does not solve the problem, there may be a couple of issues at play.
- If your compressor is still operating, your fan’s motor or start capacitor might be malfunctioning. You should try moving the fan with a wooden stick to see if that helps. Don’t do it by hand because the fan could cut your fingers if it starts. If it still does not spin, you can contact a nearby technician. Switch off your unit before she or he arrives. If you don’t, you risk blowing out your compressor, which will be a costly fix.
- Outdoor fan motor stuck: The fan could have been stuck due to dirt or rust. If the device needs more extensive maintenance, the outdoor fan motor can need to be repaired or replaced.
